Now Exhibiting at "The Vault" at the Mining Exchange Hotel

Thank you to those that came to the Mining Exchange for first Friday for my exhibition with local artist Jon Francis curated by Auric Gallery. The new space "The Vault" is a unique and stunning exhibition space located in the Mining Exchange Hotel in downtown Colorado Springs. If you have not been able to see the space or the work, I encourage you to do so. It will be up through November and I will be there for the next two First Fridays to visit with attendees about my work! Jon Francis, one of my favorite local artists, has some fantastic pieces up!

I always love the opportunity to chat with people during my openings. Why, just this past First Friday, I was chatting with a gentleman and his spouse about what it was like to grow up in Colorado Springs. Our works inspired his memories of his childhood in the "springs". His family owned a local Mexican restaurant downtown and he used to ride his bike all over downtown to some very well-known and beloved places. He even talked about See's candies and a donut shop next to a car repair shop a friend owned that he would visit regularly. Also, he noted his wardrobe included matching converse socks go along with this converse shoes. Furthermore, his mom would sew patches on his jean jacket! It was such a gas talking to him! He's now currently working on restoring a local mural that is very linear and to him feels like paint by numbers and a bit tedious! It's amazing what images people will invoke as they view art by artists in an exhibition or online. My experience working in a museum, I would find that this is a very common experience which happened to me a lot while giving tours and my day to day life.
